More books, authors and events.

Yes. There were more writer events this weekend. We went to The Eagle Eye Book Shop in Decatur.
This is my friend David Fulmer. He’s a great writer. If you don’t know his stuff. You should.

This is me and Kari making a Fulmer Sandwich. His request. Photo by his lady.

And the following video is of a reading of the first chapter of his new book, Lost River , by an adorable actress named Portia.

See a recent LOST RIVER review here. Buy the book and his others here.

After the reading we went out for a few Belgium …

Supporting the Arts.

This is my friend Karen with our author pal, Jack Riggs.

not sure why I was looking past, over and above the camera… but I look as happy as I felt for Jack’s success.
Buy his book HERE. The Fireman’s Wife.

No, I wasn’t telling him how to sign the book, I think I was telling him to stay away from frou-frou Fireman type drinks.

We sat in a hot hot hot ( FIRE!) library auditorium and listened to Jack read about Cassie and Peck, and then we went here to cool down in the 20degree Hotlanta weather.
Fun change …

Happy, again. For a writing friend.

Yay, Jack!
check him out, here if you’re local.
And buy the book here, for anyone, if I didn’t already hit you up on the Facebook Events.
And no, I’m not his publicist.

Our Family Annual Report 2008/ The Cheap Christmas Card

OUR YEAR OF 2008 AS COMPARED TO THE XXIX OLYMPIAD

This year was a series of trials, sort of like the Olympics, but with less Chinese food and more Southern accents.
We had our technical challenges, beginning with Linda choosing to defect from Samsung to the BlackBerry team. There was a moment when she was wooed by a competitor, but even with its snazzy looking stylus she still couldn’t cope with the Microsoftness of it. She battled the internet to create a website for her new venture, scratch and maintain her own site.
More techical hi-jinx took center ring …

Bloggin' Like A Mother!

Last weekend I attended the Decatur Book Festival. For all the crazy fun and wonderfulness that weekend brought, you’d think I’d have a few pictures. I do. And something to say.
Of course I do.
Let’s start here- with BLOGGERS!

This is Kristen Chase of Motherhood Uncensored and Mir Kamin of Woulda Coulda Shoulda.

See how pretty they are? See how happy they look? You would never guess one was recuperating from her own fun-filled evening battling food poisoning and the other is about to give birth- any minute now.

Go read their blogs. Buy their book.Say thank …

Go buy it.
I went to her book launch last night and saw all the pretty people. I go to a lot of these things, calling it research, and networking. Building friendships with people who usually hole up in coffee shops or basement offices with fictional characters is hard.
At these events I usually end up taking home some great ideas for when it will be my turn- for MY book… last night, with positive reports from two NY agents ringing in …

Sensitive Guy- at least where skin is concerned.

Instead of enjoying a wonderful yoga session yesterday, I was sitting in a doctor’s office looking at this: One week old POISON IVY . Trust me it was uglier in person.

My son was blessed/cursed with sensitive skin. Certain fabrics give him rashes, he sunburns and freckles in minutes and has permanent tattoos where a pencil poked through his jeans pocket and jabbed him in the leg.
The boy wanted the doctor to be stymied at this ugliness of the poison ivy, he imagined it might be another HOUSE episode, but that only made Dr. George laugh. Those shows are …

For JOSHILYN: say it Joss-alynn

This is part love- part contest. I bid on a basket of books at a writer’s conference last Fall, all because THIS book was in it. I beat out a bunch of old ladies and a few beefy men and then I had to haul all 30 books home. It was worth it, for TGWSS. LOVED LOVED LOVED it. *sigh*

I met Joshilyn at a meeting for the Atlanta Writer’s Club. She wowed us with her stage presence and energy. I can still hear her imitating her agent’s voice as she told us the story of selling her first manuscript. …
