Still Chasing the Dream

While packing for my recent writing conference in Florida, I did the three things any smart gal does: check weather.com’s extended forecast, choose the prettiest shoes, and bring lots of books. I was ready for some sunshine, as Atlanta’s teaser of Spring went from 60 degree days to 30 degree days and I hate being teased.
The conference was called Sleuthfest, sponsored by the Mystery Writers of America, the Florida Chapter and was geared to the detective/police/PI/thriller/suspense market… more suited for the novel I’m almost done with, not really the one I wanted to pitch, but the agent list was

I went to her book launch last night and saw all the pretty people. I go to a lot of these things, calling it research, and networking. Building friendships with people who usually hole up in coffee shops or basement offices with fictional characters is hard.

Recently, I have been wondering about master bedrooms. One, why they are called, “master?” and two, why do people feel the need to make the bedroom more than a place to sleep? It seems that designers are taking the “let’s make this room look like a hotel room “approach and I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to live in a hotel.

I’ve been looking at friend’s new homes and houses online and someday soon …

Got that Beatles song, Tax Man on my mind today.

After a few hours in a hot stuffy office pushing a bunch of receipts across a clutttered desk, punching numbers, signing papers and challenging my memory- followed by a really weird Korean noodle lunch, I’m home measuring, sketching and planning to update the kids bath– because I need some MORE distractions while I rewrite 100 pages of manuscript, you know- multitasking is my forte.
I can only hope Home Depot Expo and all their helpers will work out better for me than when I played GC and remodeled the master bath, with the old man and his lazy son.…
